Ever wondered what the Coastgusards do as one of the 4 ‘999’ Emergency Services? Come along to the Southend Coastguard open day for a guided tour of the station. Look inside the vantage point across the estuary, and see inside the response vehicle.
Take a peek into the role of a Coastguard Rescue Officer, including the skill sets they have, and the training they undergo from Search to Rescue.
Have a go at some first aid, water rescue techniques, and have a try at their throw-line challenge plus lots more.
