History of the Roslin

‘Take some time - make it perfect’

A charming coastal town of the cusp of Southend on Sea, Thorpe Bay boasts blue flag beaches, independent boutiques and a range of Edwardian and Victorian architecture.

Situated between neighbouring villages Southchurch Village and Shoeburyness, the area offers serene views of our eye-catching pier, the passage way for ships, ferries and boats to travel into London through our meandering estuary, delivering locally sourced seafood and transporting goods from across the seas.

Standing gracefully after the invasive changes from both World War I and World War II, Thorpe Bay shows remnants of the part played by Southend on Sea’s position in East Anglia. Some archaeological ruins can still be seen in the area, including the Mulberry Harbour which sits, half sunk in the Thames Estuary visible from our grounds, to commemorate the history of Thorpe bay, we named one of our Executive Sea View Balcony rooms, the Mulberry Suite, which gives guests a panoramic view of the wreck during low tide.

The fashion of Thorpe bay holds an eclectic mix of luxury and regal style, the interior of our Hotel has been inspired by the 1920’s glamour and classic coastal aesthetics, to harmonise with our beach front positioning.

Tucked between the historic Esplanade and the Thames Estuary, infamous beach huts offer shelter from the golden summer rays, while we sit at the top of the list of English towns captivating the highest rate of sunshine year on year. Timeless photographs from the early 1900’s show Southend as one of the hottest acclaimed holiday destinations of England, celebrated by traditional seaside attributes which are still available along the coast from Shoeburyness to Leigh on Sea.

A family run business since the very beginning, the Roslin Beach Hotel is renowned for its largely supportive place within local charities, fundraising and businesses. Supporting those closest to home of our staff, locality and guests.

We thrive knowing we are constantly giving back to the community of Thorpe Bay in our position as a landmark amongst the amenities of the ever-changing Southend on Sea.
